THE UNIVERSITY SCHOLARS AWARDS
at Claremont School of Theology
The faculty of Claremont School of Theology invites applications for
The University Scholars Awards at Claremont School of Theology. These
new merit scholarships will be awarded to up to 8 masters-level students
who matriculate in Fall 2009. The University Scholars Awards provide
for:
- 100 percent of tuition and fees
- an on-campus apartment (or off-campus equivalent)
- all course-required books
- a monthly stipend of $750 ( 9 months/ $6,750 per annum)
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified applicants must demonstrate a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
in all previous academic coursework.
REQUIREMENTS
If selected, University Scholars are required to maintain:
- a 3.7 GPA or higher throughout masters program
- full-time enrollment and completion of the academic program with
in two (M.A.) or three (M.Div.) years
The award automatically will be renewed each semester provided that
students meet requirements. Other requirements apply and will be communicated
to final awardees.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- All applications for admission completed by January 30, 2009 with
sufficient qualifications will be considered.
- To be considered for the University Scholars Awards, applicants
must submit at least two letters of academic reference.
- Finalists for the awards will be invited to Claremont at the School's
expense to interview for the program. Finalists will also complete
an additional essay in advance of the interview weekend.
Why the name "University Scholars?"
The Trustees and faculty have articulated a new mission
and vision for Claremont, expressing the intent to transition
into a graduate-level university focused on issues of religion, theology
and ethics. The University Scholars Awards program represents an important
step toward realizing this vision.
