Database Access Policy


To access the Claremont School of Theology Library’s online databases, go to the Library’s homepage (http://www.cst.edu/library/) and click on "Electronic Resources" in the Library Research Tools box on the left. These databases provide opportunities to search for journal articles, essays in books, book reviews, dissertations, etc. Some give only citations; some include abstracts and/or full text.

Database Access Policy

While links to some free-access sites are included in the Library’s lists of available online resources, most of the databases have been licensed for use by students, faculty, and staff of Claremont School of Theology and Claremont Lincoln University. Access to the licensed databases is readily available via on-campus computers, including those in the Library, the Computer Lab, and faculty and staff offices.

Community patrons and visitors have access to these resources only when they are logged on to network computers in the Library.

Note: Though the wireless system is on campus, it is out-of-network and requires remote access to use the licensed databases.

Remote Access

Access to licensed resources from off-campus computers and computers using the on-campus wireless system (remote access) is available only for Claremont School of Theology and Claremont Lincoln University students, faculty, and staff. To access the databases remotely:

  • Go to the Claremont School of Theology Library homepage.
  • Click on "Electronic Resources" (in the box on the left).
  • Click on "Login for Remote Access."
  • As directed, students, faculty, and staff should enter their CST email address and CST email password as the username and password.
  • Links to CST’s databases will appear, along with any descriptions, special instructions, etc.
  • Contact the IT Department (it@cst.edu) about any log-in problems.
