Claremont School of Theology Library serves as the major resource center for the study of religion at Claremont. The Library provides services and resources for the academic programs of Claremont School of Theology, Episcopal Theological School at Claremont, and Disciples Seminary Foundation. In cooperation with The Libraries of The Claremont Colleges, the CST Library also provides services and resources for the programs of the School of Religion at the Claremont Graduate University. In addition, Library services and resources are available to persons enrolled in Course of Study and Licensing School.
Library Privileges
CST
Library cards are issued to students, faculty and staff. All borrowers must present
a valid CST library card to check out items.
Please note: Students, faculty and staff with CST Library cards do not automatically have access or borrowing privileges at The Libraries of The Claremont Colleges. Individuals must apply at Honnold/Mudd Library for these privileges, and a yearly fee will be required of eligible borrowers.

CIRCULATION OF MATERIALS
Loan Periods
Students, faculty
and staff of COS, HCOS, and Licensing School are given borrowing privileges from
the beginning of their participation (each year) until the end of August of the
current year. Questions about extended borrowing can be answered by Circulation
staff.
Books in the general collection are loaned for 28 days. Reserve books are loaned for 2-hour, 4-hour, 1-day, 2-day or 7-day periods. Books on 2- and 4-hour reserve may be borrowed overnight if they are checked out one hour before the Library closes and returned by 10:00 am the next morning the Library is open. Periodicals, reference books and special collections items do not circulate. Other library materials (including CDs, DVDs, audiocassettes, videos, and church school curricula) are available for short-term loans.
Overdue
Materials and Fines
Overdue notices are sent by postal service or email
on a regular basis for circulating items, including reserves. A copy of the Library's
fine policy is available at the Circulation Desk'.
Holds, Recalls,
Searches
Patrons may request holds on circulating items or ask for recalls
after items have been circulating for two weeks. Holds and recalls on CST items
must be completed by staff, and request forms are available for patrons at Circulation.
(Circulation records are confidential; names of borrowers are not disclosed.)
Items that cannot be found on the Library shelves should be reported to Circulation
for searching.
Book Return
An after-hours book return
(wall unit) is located to the north of the Library entrance.
REFERENCE
General information and reference questions should be directed to staff at the Reference Desk. If no one is present, information request forms (located at Reference) may be filled out and left at the Reference Desk for a response, or the Catalog Librarian may be consulted. The Reference Librarian may also be contacted by email (see page 3) or telephone (909) 447-2511.
Staff members at the Reference Desk can also help patrons locate materials available at nearby institutions. Patrons should contact the Reference Librarian if they have questions about resources at other libraries.
OTHER INFORMATION
Photocopying
Copying machines and printers are available in
the Library. These do not accept coins and copy/print cards must be purchased
at the Circulation Desk. The cost is 8 cents per copy.
Computers
Computers in the Library can be used to access the Blais catalog and the Library's
electronic resources, connect to the Internet, and for word processing. Network
ports in the building allow patrons to connect personal computers to the Internet.
The Computer Lab is available for students, faculty, and staff of COS, HCOS and
Licensing School. Information and instructions are posted in the Lab.
Telephones
and Paging
Library telephones are not available to patrons. A public telephone
is located on the east side of the Administration Building. The Library does not
have a paging system.
Facilities Policies
The Library is a graduate,
academic facility for study and research. Children under the age of 18 may not
enter the Library, unless under the direct supervision of an adult, and may not
remain in the building for extended periods of time.
Food and beverages are not permitted in the building, with the exception of water in a clear closed container. The use of cell phones is prohibited in the Library. The Library atrium is' available for patrons to eat or hold phone conversations. Smoking is not permitted in the building or in the atrium. Copies of policies are available at Circulation.
Hours
Library hours are posted at the building entrance. Hours
are available also on the CST Library homepage (http://www.cst.edu/library), on
a recorded message at (909) 447-2589 and as a handout at the Circulation Desk.
