AFTER LAB HOURS
While you are in the lab, you are responsible for what happens there. We have a record of every entrance and exit. We also have a video camera watching the door for your safety and the safety of our equipment. Please be responsible and polite.
HOW TO SWIPE YOUR CARD
You can open the outside door from either side with your CST ID card or your Library ID Card. The door will open on its own and stay open about 30 seconds. Please don't push the door; the alarm will go off. Please use only your card to open the door.
1. Hold your card so the black magnetic stripe faces the right side.
2. Swipe your card downward in the black card reader placed to the right of the
door.
3. DO NOT PUSH THE DOOR! It will swing open by itself.

the door quickly and let it close behind you.

or the alarm will go off.

WHAT TO DO DURING AN EMERGENCY
- ELECTRICITY BLACKOUTS
Your card will continue
to work in a blackout. Swipe the card and leave the lab.
- INJURY OR ILLNESS
Notify the Library staff during Library hours. If the Library is closed and
you need assistance, dial 9-911 on the Lab Emergency Phone for 911 services.
-
EARTHQUAKE, FIRE, BUILDING DAMAGE OR OTHER EMERGENCY
During Library hours,
a Library staff member will help you evacuate the building. If the Library is
closed and you discover an emergency, leave the Lab immediately by pushing the
black Emergency Bar on the door. If it is safe to do so, you can use the Lab emergency
phone or the public phone on the outside of the Colwell administration building
(east side) to call 911.
OTHER THINGS
GETTING A REGULAR OR LIBRARY ID CARD
CST students and employees can get a regular photo ID card. COS, HCOS and Licensing students can get a Library photo ID card. These cards also open the computer lab door. To get a card, you must have your photo taken during a scheduled photo session at the Library Circulation Desk, and you must have completed your registration and payment arrangements.
SERVICE AND SUPPORT FOR THE COMPUTER LAB
CST has a very small Library and Technology staff. Therefore, we can only offer limited support for students using the lab. Generally, you can get started just by sitting down, logging in and clicking the Start button to see what programs you can use. Look at the signs and instructions.
There is no support available when the Library is closed. Paper supplies and toner supplies should be requested before the Library closes. It is possible for the printer to run out of paper at night. You might want to have some paper available in case this happens.
