What is a CST email address?
After the Admissions office receives a confirmation letter from an incoming student, the IT staff creates a CST email address for that student. The address is the student's last name followed by their first initial @cst.edu. All school related email will be received at this address, and all students have email addresses following the same pattern-last name followed by first initial @cst.edu. Additionally, all faculty and staff follow the pattern of first initial followed by last name @cst.edu. These predicable email addresses allow for easy communication between members of the CST community. The email is accessible through a Quick Link in the dropdown menu on the CST homepage.

What are the internet options in campus housing?
Students living in campus housing have several options for accessing the internet. First, student may decide to get phone service from a service provider such as Verizon and a DSL connection to that line (with or without wireless access) can easily be added for an additional $30-$50 per month. Students simply arrange that connection with the service provider. Additionally, students can arrange to use a dial-up connection or can bring their laptops to the library and connect to the internet there. Computers are also available in the library and the computer lab for student use.

What type of computer should incoming students bring to campus?
Although there are computers on campus available for student use, bringing a computer to campus, either for use in an on-campus apartment or to take notes in class, is a great idea. If you wish to purchase a computer before arriving on campus, be sure to pick one that is reliable and with which you are comfortable. The computers in the library are IBMs running Windows XP; however, all computers can be supported. CST does not provide discounted pricing on computer purchases; however, students are eligible for academic pricing through retail vendors.

Can students bring laptops to the library?
The library invites students to bring their laptop computers to the library to connect to the internet. Instructions for doing so are found under "Instructions for using Laptops in the Library" on the "IT Resources and Instructions" webpage. Currently, the campus does not offer wireless connections, and students need to provide their own CAT-5 Ethernet cable. However, CST hopes to offer wireless connection to its students in the near future.

What computers are available to students in the library?
Students at CST have access to all the computers in the library while the library is open. They also have access to the computer lab, which is attached to the library, everyday from 6am to midnight. From any of these computers students can print, burn CDs, watch DVDs, surf the internet, etc. Copy machines are also available for student use.

What other resources are available to CST students?
CST offers students a wide range of educational and research tools. As one of its greatest assets, CST provides its students with access to all the libraries at the Claremont Colleges. Students use the Blais Library Catalog, which includes the resources at all of the Claremont Colleges, as a search tool for finding resources for papers and projects. CST also provides its students with access to several databases, accessible on or off campus, and an electronic reserve system that allows students to access course materials from the internet.
