We pride ourselves in working on a human scale. As persons of faith who are not afraid of scholarly excellence we are eager to meet with those who desire the best in theological education. Every day we passionately pursue concrete expressions of academic excellence, vocational discernment and responsible social engagement. In a world of big, anonymous institutions, Claremont offers an intimate and one-on-one education. Claremont provides a peaceful, contemplative environment that allows each person to grow and explore their personal relationship with God while discussing, debating and wrestling with relevant theological concepts.

Here at Claremont, you don't just study current theology and ministry texts, you study with the scholars who are writing these texts. In our classrooms, you have the opportunity to personally know an excellent faculty committed to nurturing and guiding student learning and faith formation. Faculty members challenge, mentor, teach and counsel.

Our students report that study and community interaction at Claremont are unique. Our proximity to large cities, suburban areas and mountain trails provides real-world experience and interaction in diverse environments. Claremont students experience urban ministry first-hand, exchange insights with persons from other faith traditions, and join in research with world-class scholars. Internships are available in small churches in suburban and even rural communities-all within a short drive of our beautiful campus.

Claremont was founded on the principle that if we provide an environment of excellence—a top-notch faculty, a first-rate library and an inviting campus where the soul can be nurtured through a connection with natural beauty—students will come here to learn and perfect the skills they need to be leaders in our churches, communities and institutions of higher education. In short, we seek to provide a place of habitus-a place where the patterns of excellence in thought, prayer and leadership are learned. To paraphrase our founding president, Ernest Cadman "Pomp" Colwell, "We are less than perfect and lack some things, but we are the best there is."

Here at Claremont, we put students first by providing an excellent curriculum taught by a world-renowned faculty within a nurturing and supportive environment.

I extend a personal invitation to you to join our Claremont School of Theology community. We invite you to visit us on the electronic pages before you and then come see us in our real-world setting. Campus tours are available any weekday of the year and our Director of Admission, Janet Cromwell, is eager to assist you in finding out more about our campus and academic programs.
