Claremont Celebrates Black History Month
The Pan-African Seminarian Association at Claremont School of Theology
sponsors a month-long series of events in celebration of Black History
Month. Events, which are open to the public, include:

Associate Professor of Society, Religion, and Africana Studies at Fuller
Theological Seminary.

The 2007 King Lecturer at Claremont School of Theology is
Dr. Ralph C. Watkins, associate professor of society, religion, and Africana
studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. A professor, pastor and musician,
Dr. Watkins is a teaching scholar with over 250 publications and conference
presentations to his credit.
He is author of I Ain't Afraid to Speak my Mind and
"Rap, Religion and New Realities: The Emergence of a Religious Discourse
in Rap Music" in the book Noise and Spirit: The Religious Sensibilities
of Rap Music. His new book The
Gospel Remix: Reaching the Hip Hop Generation will be released
in 2007. He is currently working on his next book project Hip-Hop Redemption:
Finding God in the Music and the Message.
The King Lecture, co-sponsored by the Pan-African Seminarians
Association (PASA) at CST, will begin at 7 p.m., preceded by a community
dinner at 5:30 p.m.

on the theme "Reclaiming the Legacy," featuring music from the
African American church tradition. Current CST Student Bill Thomas will
preach.

Ready to show your stuff behind the microphone and on the dance floor?
Celebrate the “Day of Love” with a sizzling night of poetry, music, dance,
food ... and maybe just a little romance!
