President Jerry D. Campbell and
the School's world-class
faculty are excited by what the future holds, both at Claremont
and on the Pacific Rim. If you are exploring your options for ministerial
preparation, theological study, religious scholarship, or personal
enrichment, then Claremont may be right for you. On top of it all,
the city of Claremont recently was named a "Top
Five Place to Live," based on diversity of its community,
safety, quality of education, and the overall quality of life in
this small college town.
NEW STATEMENT OF MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES
The Board of Trustees recently adopted new statements of Mission,
Vision, and Values for the future of Claremont School of Theology.
The mission statement declares:
"An ecumenical and interfaith institution, Claremont School
of Theology seeks to instill students with the ethical integrity,
religious intelligence, and intercultural understanding necessary
to become effective in thought and action as spiritual leaders in
the increasingly diverse, multi-faith world of the 21st century."
CLAREMONT SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY CELEBRATES 50 YEARS
In
1957, the "Southern California School of Theology" separated from
the University of Southern California and started classes in the
small college town of Claremont, located in eastern Los Angeles
County. The school began as an outpost of radical optimism, as a
place for the brightest faculty and students to envision a peaceful
future together. Fifty years later, Claremont School of Theology
continues to draw on these passions, even as we race toward bold
new ideas and practices for the future.
